Did you know that a spirit can only be called bourbon if:
- The mash, mixture of grains, contains at least 51% corn
- It does not have any additives
- It is distilled at 160 proof or less
- It is put into new charred oak barrels at 125 proof or less
- It is produced in the United States (not just in Kentucky)
- And, to be called "straight bourbon" the distillate must be aged a minimum of two years in oak barrels (any variety)
